Ride into the dunes at sunset
In the late afternoon, you meet your horseman at the stables. You leave your big luggage in a safe place and take only a small bag for the night. Then you ride into Erg Chebbi. The sun is low, the sand is warm, and the dunes shine in gold and red. After about one hour and a half you see the camp: a circle of tents in a quiet valley between the dunes.
The camp team welcomes you with mint tea. While your horse rests, you can climb a dune, try sandboarding, or just sit and listen to the silence. Dinner is a big tagine, soup and fruit, and after dinner the drums come out by the fire. Later, walk a few steps away from the light. The Milky Way is right above you.
