3 Days Tour from Agadir to Marrakech

3 Days Tour from Agadir to Marrakech — why take the highway when you can take the desert road? Travel from Agadir to Marrakech in three private days, through Ouarzazate, the Draa Valley and a night in the dunes near Zagora.

The journey

3 Days Tour from Agadir to Marrakech overview

The fast road from Agadir to Marrakech takes about three hours. It is easy, but you see almost nothing. This tour goes the long and beautiful way. You cross the Anti-Atlas, sleep in Ouarzazate, follow the Draa River through hundreds of kilometres of palm trees, and spend a night in the desert before you climb over the High Atlas into Marrakech.

It is the perfect tour if you have a few days between the beach and the city, and you want to taste the desert without a very long drive. The dunes near Zagora are smaller than in Merzouga, but the camp is calm, the camel ride is real and the stars are the same.

As always, the tour is private. Your own car, your own driver, and a plan that bends to your wishes.

Agadir → Taroudant → Taliouine → Tazenakht → Ouarzazate

We pick you up in Agadir and drive east through orange groves and argan trees to Taroudant. Walk through the souk inside the old red ramparts and enjoy the quiet streets. Then the road climbs into the Anti-Atlas, and the land turns brown, red and purple.

In Taliouine, visit a saffron cooperative and taste the golden tea. Pass Tazenakht with its carpet shops, and reach Ouarzazate in the late afternoon. Visit Kasbah Taourirt, the old house of the Glaoui family, with its painted ceilings and small windows, then relax at your hotel.

Day 02

Approx. 170 km

Ouarzazate → Agdz → Draa Valley → Zagora desert

Today the road climbs over the Tizi n'Tinififft pass, with wide views of black and red mountains, and then drops into the Draa Valley. From here to Zagora, the road follows a long green ribbon of date palms. We stop at Tamnougalt, an old kasbah village where you can walk through dark passages and see how people lived here long ago.

In the afternoon we reach Zagora. Do you know the famous old sign that says "Tombouctou 52 jours"? It reminds you that camel caravans once left from here to cross the Sahara to Timbuktu. A little later, you meet your camels and ride into the dunes for sunset. Dinner is served in the camp, under the stars, with music by the fire.

Wake up for sunrise over the dunes, then ride back and have breakfast. We drive north again through the palm groves to Ouarzazate and on to Aït Ben Haddou. Cross the river and walk up through the old clay village to the top, where the view goes all the way to the mountains.

After lunch we climb the High Atlas on the Tizi n'Tichka road. It twists and turns past small Berber villages and walnut trees, and at the top you are more than 2,200 metres high. In the evening we come down into Marrakech and drop you at your riad.
